Designing Possible Futures
Designing Possible Futures: By Design is a student-led exhibition proposal developed through the Houston Social Design Collective, connecting students from the University of Houston, University of Houston-Downtown and Rice University. The project explores how design can respond to social problems in Houston through the three pillars of sustainability: social, environmental and economic. My section focuses on redlining, tracing its origins, its lasting impact on Houston communities and possible actions that residents and local government can take to support more equitable futures. Through research, visual storytelling and exhibition design, the project frames redlining not only as a historical practice but as an ongoing system that continues to shape access, opportunity and quality of life.
