El Coquí
El Coquí Is A Three-Volume Publication Series That Uses The Structure Of A Field Guide To Advocate For The Coquí As Both An Ecological Species And A Cultural Symbol Of Puerto Rico. Created In Response To Reports Of Tourists Attempting To Silence Coquí Frogs, The Series Moves From Biological Education To Cultural Reflection. Volume 1, Origins And Song, Establishes The Coquí’s Reproductive Process, Call And Environmental Challenges Through A Manuscript-Inspired Design And Natural Green Palette. Volume 2, Catalog Of A Living Chorus, Documents Ten Coquí Species Across Puerto Rico, Using Neon Green Bitmap Imagery To Reference Night Vision And The Frog’s Nocturnal Presence. Volume 3, Echoes Of Resistance, Shifts Into A More Urgent Visual Language, Using Yellow, Expressive Typography And Layered Imagery To Connect The Silencing Of The Coquí To Broader Histories Of Colonial Harm, Resilience And Puerto Rican Perseverance.
